Question 1

Which months had the most sunshine in Paris in 2025?

Accepted Answer

August was the sunniest month in Paris in 2025, recording 350.9 hours of sunshine, closely followed by June with 332.5 hours. The late spring and summer stretch delivered by far the brightest conditions of the year.

Across 2025, Paris accumulated about 2,278.7 hours of sunshine in total. The summer months of June to August alone contributed 947.8 hours — roughly 42% of the entire year's sunshine. August averaged around 11.3 hours of sunshine per day, while June was close behind at about 11.1 hours per day.

Spring also performed strongly, with April reaching 275.2 hours and May 272.2 hours, making them the third and fourth sunniest months of 2025. At the opposite end, January was the gloomiest month with just 38.7 hours of sunshine, followed by February at 64.6 hours, reflecting the short, overcast days typical of a Paris winter.

For visitors, this pattern means late spring through summer offers the best odds of bright, sunny weather in Paris. April and May provide long, sunlit days alongside milder temperatures (around 13–16°C / 55–61°F), ideal for sightseeing without peak summer heat. If sunshine is a priority, the June-to-August window is the surest bet, though it also brings the warmest conditions of the year, while the darker months from November to February are best planned around indoor attractions.

Question 2

What were the temperature extremes in Paris in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Paris swung between a high of 38.8°C (101.8°F) and a low of −8.0°C (17.6°F) in 2025, giving the city an annual temperature range of 46.8°C (84.2°F).

The hottest day in Paris came on 1 July 2025, when the mercury peaked at 38.8°C (101.8°F) during an early-summer heatwave. The coldest reading arrived on 14 January 2025, when the overnight low dropped to −8.0°C (17.6°F). Across the full year, Paris recorded 24 days at or above 30°C (86°F), including two days that topped 35°C (95°F), and 49 days with frost where temperatures fell to 0°C (32°F) or below.

Despite these extremes, the overall climate stayed temperate, with a mean annual temperature of 12.4°C (54.3°F).

For visitors, this means Paris weather in 2025 demanded real flexibility. The summer heat spikes in July made lightweight clothing and hydration essential for sightseeing, while the January cold snap brought genuine winter conditions that called for warm layers. The roughly two dozen hot days were concentrated in summer, so travellers seeking milder, more stable conditions would find late spring or early autumn far more comfortable for exploring the city on foot.

Question 3

Which season was the wettest in Paris in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Summer was the wettest season in Paris in 2025, with the meteorological summer months (June to August 2025) delivering about 197 mm (7.7 in) of rain — more than any other season.

Across the full year, Paris recorded 651 mm (25.6 in) of total precipitation in 2025, averaging roughly 54 mm (2.1 in) per month. The summer total was lifted almost entirely by a stormy July, which alone brought 106 mm (4.2 in) of rain. Autumn (September to November 2025) was the next wettest period at 131 mm (5.2 in), followed by the January–February portion of winter at 183 mm (7.2 in). Spring (March to May 2025) was the driest stretch, with just 101 mm (4.0 in) spread over three months.

At the monthly level, January 2025 was actually the single wettest month at 131 mm (5.1 in), while April 2025 was the driest at only 25 mm (1.0 in).

What this means for visitors: the rain in Paris does not follow the typical "wet winter, dry summer" pattern you might expect. Showers in 2025 were heaviest during convective summer storms, so a light rain jacket is wise even in July and August. Spring remains the best bet for dry sightseeing, making April and May 2025 the most reliable months for outdoor exploring in Paris.

Question 4

Which months are the windiest in Paris?

Accepted Answer

October is the windiest month in Paris, with average wind speeds of 12.6 km/h (7.8 mph) recorded in 2025. The city sees its breeziest conditions in autumn and early winter, while late summer stays notably calmer.

Across 2025, Paris averaged 10.8 km/h (6.7 mph) over the full year, but the monthly figures reveal a clear seasonal pattern. The top three windiest months were:

- **October:** 12.6 km/h (7.8 mph)
- **January:** 12.1 km/h (7.5 mph)
- **September:** 11.8 km/h (7.3 mph)

Autumn (September to November) was the windiest season overall at 11.9 km/h (7.4 mph), edging out winter and spring. The calmest stretch came in late summer: February and August tied as the gentlest months at just 9.1 km/h (5.7 mph), with summer (June to August) averaging only 9.9 km/h (6.2 mph).

For visitors, these conditions matter for planning. Wind speeds in Paris stay moderate year-round, so even the windiest October days rarely disrupt sightseeing, river cruises, or café terraces. If you prefer the stillest air for outdoor dining or photography, the summer months offer the most settled conditions. The slightly breezier autumn and winter air pairs with cooler temperatures, so a windproof layer is worth packing between September and January. Overall, Paris experiences a gentle wind climate, making it comfortable for walking-based exploration throughout the year.

Question 5

How much rainfall did Paris receive in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Paris received approximately 651 mm (25.6 inches) of total rainfall across 2025, a fairly typical year for the French capital with precipitation spread relatively evenly through the seasons.

Rainfall in Paris averaged about 54 mm (2.1 inches) per month in 2025, but the distribution was far from uniform. January was by far the wettest month with 130.6 mm (5.1 inches), followed by a notably soggy July at 105.8 mm (4.2 inches). The driest stretch came in spring, with April recording just 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) of rain.

Interestingly, the year was almost perfectly balanced between its two halves: Paris saw 331.6 mm (13.1 inches) from January to June and 319.2 mm (12.6 inches) from July to December. Average relative humidity for 2025 was 76.2%, climbing toward 90% in the damp late-autumn and winter months of November and December.

For visitors and residents, this means there is no truly "dry season" in Paris — rain is possible year-round. The late spring months of April and May are statistically your best bet for drier conditions, while January and a stormy July were the wettest periods in 2025. Packing a compact umbrella or light rain jacket is always sensible when planning a trip to Paris, regardless of the month.
