Question 1

What is the sunniest time of year in Berlin?

Accepted Answer

The sunniest time of year in Berlin is meteorological summer (June 1 to August 31), and in 2025 **August was the single brightest month** with 349.8 hours of sunshine.

Across the summer months of 2025, Berlin recorded 855.3 hours of sunshine, averaging about 285 hours per month. June was the second sunniest month of the year at 301.0 hours, followed by April at 268.4 hours, showing that the bright stretch really begins in spring. For comparison, Berlin's darkest month was January 2025 with just 51.4 hours of sunshine — roughly one-seventh of the August total.

August's sunshine came with warm, comfortable conditions: an average temperature of 18.3°C (64.9°F) and a peak high of 34.5°C (94.1°F). Over the full year, Berlin accumulated 2,213.4 hours of sunshine in 2025.

If you are planning a visit built around long, bright days, late spring through summer is the clear window in Berlin. April through August consistently delivered the most sunshine in 2025, making it the best time for outdoor markets, park visits, and lakeside trips. Just keep in mind that the sunniest months can also bring occasional heavy downpours — July 2025 saw 108.4mm of rain (4.3 inches) despite still logging over 200 hours of sunshine.

Question 2

Which season was the wettest in Berlin in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Summer (June to August) was the wettest season in Berlin in 2025, delivering about 161.6 mm (6.4 in) of rain — far more than any other season.

The summer total was dominated by a remarkably wet July, which alone recorded 108.4 mm (4.3 in) of precipitation, making it the rainiest month of the year by a wide margin. By comparison, the other meteorological seasons stayed much drier: autumn (September to November) saw 92.2 mm (3.6 in), spring (March to May) 83.8 mm (3.3 in), and the winter months within 2025 (January and February only) just 55.0 mm (2.2 in). Across the full calendar year, Berlin accumulated 404.4 mm (15.9 in) of precipitation.

What stands out is how uneven the rainfall was. Outside of July, Berlin's summer months were actually quite modest — June brought 25.2 mm (1.0 in) and August 28.0 mm (1.1 in) — so the season's "wettest" title rests almost entirely on a single stormy month.

For visitors and residents, this means Berlin's summer weather in 2025 was generally pleasant and dry, but prone to sudden heavy downpours, especially in midsummer. If you are planning outdoor activities in July, it is worth packing a rain jacket and checking the forecast, while late spring and early autumn offered more consistently settled conditions with lower monthly rainfall totals.

Question 3

What were the temperature extremes in Berlin in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Berlin swung between a scorching high of 38.4°C (101.1°F) and a bitter low of -12.6°C (9.3°F) in 2025, giving the city an annual temperature span of 51.0°C (91.8°F).

The hottest day in Berlin came on 2 July 2025, when the mercury peaked at 38.4°C (101.1°F). The coldest reading of the year was recorded on 17 February 2025, when temperatures dipped to -12.6°C (9.3°F). June was the warmest month overall with an average of 19.3°C (66.7°F), while February was the coldest, averaging just 0.6°C (33.1°F).

Heat and frost were both well represented across the year. Berlin saw 10 days reach 30°C (86°F) or higher and 48 days climb to at least 25°C (77°F). At the other end, the city experienced 82 frost days where the minimum fell below 0°C (32°F), including 5 "ice days" when the temperature stayed below freezing all day.

For visitors and residents, this wide range means Berlin demands a flexible wardrobe. Summer can bring genuine heatwave conditions that make shade and hydration essential, while deep winter cold calls for proper layering. The large 51°C (91.8°F) gap between the year's extremes is typical of Berlin's continental climate, where summers run hot and winters can turn sharply cold.

Question 4

How windy is Berlin, and which months are the windiest in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Berlin is a fairly calm city when it comes to wind, with average wind speeds of just 11.6 km/h (7.2 mph) across 2025. Breezes stay light and steady throughout the year, with no single month standing out as especially gusty.

The windiest month in Berlin in 2025 was June, averaging 14.1 km/h (8.8 mph), followed closely by October at 13.7 km/h (8.5 mph) and January at 13.5 km/h (8.4 mph). The calmest stretch came in early spring, with March averaging only 9.5 km/h (5.9 mph). Across the full year, monthly averages stayed within a narrow band of roughly 9.5 to 14.1 km/h (5.9 to 8.8 mph).

Wind in Berlin was remarkably consistent from season to season in 2025. Autumn was marginally the breeziest period at 12.0 km/h (7.4 mph), while spring was the gentlest at 11.2 km/h (6.9 mph) — a difference small enough to go unnoticed in daily life.

For visitors and residents, this means wind is rarely a disruptive factor in Berlin. Conditions are well suited to year-round cycling, walking, and outdoor dining, since strong gusts are uncommon. If you prefer the lightest breezes, the spring months from March to May offer the calmest air, while early summer and autumn bring slightly more movement to round out Berlin's mild and stable wind climate.

Question 5

How humid is Berlin, and which months are the most humid in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Berlin had an average relative humidity of about 77% across 2025, with the most humid conditions occurring in late autumn and winter rather than summer.

The dampest air settled over Berlin in November 2025 at 90.9% average humidity, closely followed by December at 90.2% and January at 85.9%. By contrast, the driest air arrived in early summer, with June 2025 the least humid month at just 60.5%, ahead of May at 61.3% and April at 66.9%. That gives Berlin a wide annual swing of roughly 30 percentage points between its most and least humid months.

Grouped by meteorological season, the pattern is clear:

- **Winter (January–February 2025):** 85.6% average humidity
- **Spring (March–May 2025):** 67.4%
- **Summer (June–August 2025):** 68.3%
- **Autumn (September–November 2025):** 84.1%

The high autumn and winter readings line up with Berlin's cooler temperatures during those months, such as November's mean of 4.8°C (40.6°F), when cold air holds moisture close to saturation and morning fog and damp, grey days are common. The drier feel of late spring and early summer coincides with warmer means like June's 19.3°C (66.7°F), making that stretch the most comfortable for outdoor activities. If you plan to visit Berlin and prefer fresher, less muggy air, the April-to-June window in 2025 was consistently the driest.
