Question 1

What is the sunniest time of year in Tel Aviv?

Accepted Answer

The sunniest time of year in Tel Aviv runs from late spring through the end of summer, with May 2025 standing out as the single brightest month at 350.3 hours of sunshine — roughly 11.3 hours of sun per day.

Tel Aviv is one of the sunniest cities on the Mediterranean, and 2025 confirmed it with 3,167 hours of sunshine across the year, averaging about 264 hours per month. After May, August was the next brightest month with 329.1 hours (about 10.6 hours daily), followed by September at 289.4 hours. The full meteorological summer (June to August 2025) delivered 830.9 hours of sunshine combined, paired with virtually no rain at just 0.1 mm (0.004 in) over the three months.

What makes this stretch especially reliable is the lack of cloud and rain. May 2025 recorded only 0.6 mm (0.02 in) of precipitation, while temperatures stayed comfortable at a mean of 20.9°C (69.6°F). By August the average climbed to 27.0°C (80.6°F), so the brightest days are also the hottest.

For visitors, this means the May-to-September window in Tel Aviv offers near-guaranteed sunshine for beach days and outdoor dining. If you prefer strong sun without peak summer heat, May and September are the sweet spots, while July and August bring the warmest, driest conditions for sun-seekers.

Question 2

Which months are the wettest in Tel Aviv?

Accepted Answer

Tel Aviv gets almost all of its rain in the late autumn and winter months, with December 2025 standing out as by far the wettest month of the year at 265.6mm (10.46 in). The city's Mediterranean climate concentrates rainfall into a short wet season, leaving the rest of the year remarkably dry.

In 2025, Tel Aviv recorded about 431.3mm (16.98 in) of total rainfall, and roughly 72% of it fell during the meteorological winter months of January, February, and December 2025. The build-up began in autumn, with November 2025 bringing 85.8mm (3.38 in), before December's downpours dominated the year.

By contrast, the summer was effectively rainless. Across the six months from May to October 2025, Tel Aviv received just 1.4mm (0.06 in) combined, and June and July saw essentially no measurable rain at all. Spring was also dry, with March 2025 the only notable exception at 31.7mm (1.25 in).

For visitors, this pattern is very predictable. If you want reliably dry, sunny conditions in Tel Aviv, the long May-to-October window is ideal for beach days and outdoor plans. If you prefer to avoid heavy downpours, steer clear of December, when the wettest weather of the year arrives. Keep in mind that Tel Aviv's rainfall is concentrated into relatively few days, so even the wet season tends to feature short, intense bursts rather than constant drizzle.

Question 3

What were the temperature extremes in Tel Aviv in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Tel Aviv recorded its 2025 temperature extremes on April 23, when the mercury hit a scorching **41.1°C (106.0°F)**, and on February 25, when the coldest night of the year bottomed out at **0.9°C (33.6°F)**. That gives the city an annual temperature range of about 40.2°C (72°F) between its hottest afternoon and coldest night.

The April peak came from a *sharav* (hot desert wind) event well before the summer season — a reminder that Tel Aviv's most extreme heat doesn't always arrive in midsummer. Across the full 2025 calendar year, the city averaged a mild **20.4°C (68.7°F)**, reflecting its temperate Mediterranean climate.

On a monthly basis, August was the warmest month with an average temperature of **27.0°C (80.6°F)**, while February was the coolest at **12.6°C (54.6°F)**. Tel Aviv also logged 59 days in 2025 where the daytime high reached or exceeded 30°C (86°F), with 24 of those days climbing to 32°C (90°F) or higher.

For visitors, these figures show that Tel Aviv stays comfortably warm year-round, but brief spring heat spikes can be intense — so spring travelers should pack light clothing and sun protection. Winter nights rarely approach freezing, making the city a reliably mild destination even in its coolest weeks of 2025.

Question 4

How humid is Tel Aviv in summer?

Accepted Answer

Tel Aviv is notably humid throughout the summer, with average relative humidity holding around **75.9%** across the June–August 2025 season (meteorological summer, June 1 to August 31). This Mediterranean coastal city stays muggy even when rainfall is virtually absent, because moisture rolls in off the sea rather than falling as rain.

Humidity in Tel Aviv was highest at the start of summer and eased slightly as the season progressed:

- **June 2025:** 78.8% — the most humid month
- **July 2025:** 75.2%
- **August 2025:** 73.7% — the least humid summer month

The combination of warmth and moisture is what makes the season feel sticky. During summer 2025, average daily highs reached **32.1°C (89.7°F)** while nights stayed mild at around **17.4°C (63.3°F)**, with a seasonal mean temperature of **25.6°C (78.0°F)**. A gentle sea breeze averaging just **9.1 km/h (5.6 mph)** offered only modest relief along the coast.

For visitors, this means Tel Aviv summers feel hotter than the thermometer alone suggests, as high humidity limits the body's ability to cool through evaporation. Light, breathable clothing, regular hydration, and shade during midday hours are sensible precautions. The good news is that the consistent sea breeze and warm Mediterranean water make Tel Aviv's beaches a welcome way to beat the humid summer heat.

Question 5

What is the weather like in Tel Aviv in December?

Accepted Answer

December in Tel Aviv is mild, wet, and at the heart of the city's rainy season, with comfortable daytime temperatures but a real chance of heavy downpours. In December 2025, Tel Aviv averaged a mean temperature of 15.6°C (60.1°F), making it one of the cooler months of the year while still staying well above freezing.

Daytime highs in Tel Aviv typically reached around 20.5°C (69.0°F), and nights cooled to an average low of 11.1°C (52.0°F). The warmest afternoon hit 30.8°C (87.4°F) on December 5, 2025, while the coldest night dipped to just 6.3°C (43.3°F) on December 18, 2025.

December is genuinely rainy here. Tel Aviv recorded 12 rainy days (1 mm or more) and a hefty 266 mm (10.5 in) of total rainfall in December 2025. Much of that fell in a single storm: December 10 alone brought 115.6 mm (4.55 in), and combined with December 11 the two days delivered about 74% of the month's rain. The month still managed 214 hours of sunshine, with average humidity around 72%.

For visitors, December in Tel Aviv means packing for two scenarios: light layers and sunglasses for pleasant 20°C afternoons, plus a waterproof jacket and umbrella for sudden, intense rain. Sea breezes kept average winds light at about 11 km/h (7 mph), though stormy days near month's end gusted higher. Overall, it is a quiet, low-season time to explore Tel Aviv between rain showers.
