Question 1

Which months are the wettest in Bangkok?

Accepted Answer

The wettest months in Bangkok are September, July, and May, which together account for the heaviest rainfall of the year during the southwest monsoon season. September 2025 was by far the rainiest month, delivering 387.4mm (15.3 in) of precipitation.

Based on full-year 2025 weather data, Bangkok's rainfall climbs sharply once the monsoon arrives:

- **September:** 387.4mm (15.3 in) — the wettest month of 2025
- **July:** 291.2mm (11.5 in)
- **May:** 254.0mm (10.0 in)
- **June:** 206.6mm (8.1 in)

The extended wet season from May through October brought 1,527.4mm (60.1 in) of rain in 2025, representing about 81% of Bangkok's annual total of 1,882.2mm (74.1 in). Humidity peaked alongside the rain, averaging 85.8% in September and staying above 80% from May through October.

By contrast, the dry season is striking: January saw just 0.3mm (0.0 in) and December only 5.0mm (0.2 in), making the November–February window the most reliable for clear skies.

For travelers, this means visiting Bangkok between roughly November and February offers the driest, most comfortable conditions, while a trip during the September peak should account for frequent heavy downpours and high humidity. Indoor attractions, temples, and shopping districts make Bangkok rewarding year-round, but packing rain gear is essential for any monsoon-season visit.

Question 2

What is the hottest month in Bangkok?

Accepted Answer

April is the hottest month in Bangkok, with an average temperature of 30.1°C (86.2°F) in 2025 — the peak of the city's hot season.

Bangkok's climate runs warm year-round, but the heat clearly concentrates in spring. In April 2025, the average daytime high reached 39.7°C (103.5°F), the highest single-month maximum recorded all year, while overnight lows stayed mild at 23.6°C (74.5°F). March 2025 was a close second, averaging 29.9°C (85.8°F), which makes the meteorological spring period (March to May) the standout hot stretch with an average of 29.5°C (85.2°F).

A few key data points from 2025 highlight how April stands apart:

- **Mean temperature:** 30.1°C (86.2°F), the highest of any month
- **Peak high:** 39.7°C (103.5°F)
- **Humidity:** 72.2%, adding to the "feels-like" heat

For context, the coolest month in Bangkok was November 2025 at 25.7°C (78.3°F), and the full-year average sat at 27.9°C (82.2°F), so April runs only a couple of degrees above the annual norm but feels much more intense thanks to relentless sunshine and rising humidity.

If you plan to visit Bangkok in April, schedule outdoor sightseeing for early morning or evening, stay hydrated, and seek shade during the midday peak. This is also when the Songkran water festival offers a welcome way to cool off from the heat.

Question 3

How humid is Bangkok throughout the year?

Accepted Answer

Bangkok is a consistently humid city, with an average relative humidity of **74%** across 2025 and a clear split between a sticky wet season and a more comfortable dry season.

Humidity in Bangkok climbs steadily from the start of the year and peaks in the rainy months. In 2025, **September was the most humid month at 85.8%**, followed closely by July (83.2%) and May (82.9%). Five months — May, June, July, September and October — averaged at or above 80% humidity, making the middle of the year feel especially muggy.

The driest stretch comes during the cool season. **January 2025 was the least humid month at just 51.8%**, and the dry-season window from November to February averaged a far more pleasant 64.3%. Across the year, humidity in Bangkok ranged a full 34 percentage points between its January low and September high.

Grouped by meteorological season, autumn (September to November) was the most humid at 80.9% and winter (December to February) the least at 60.9%, with the wettest months (May to October) averaging 82% versus 64.3% in the cooler dry months.

For visitors, this means the November–February window offers the most comfortable conditions, with lower humidity and plenty of sunshine. If you travel to Bangkok between May and October, expect high humidity that makes the heat feel more intense, so plan for lighter clothing, frequent hydration, and air-conditioned breaks during the day.

Question 4

When is the best time of year to visit Bangkok?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit Bangkok is during the cool-dry season from November to February, when 2025 data showed the lowest rainfall, comfortable humidity, and abundant sunshine.

Across these cool-season months in 2025 (January, February, November, and December), Bangkok averaged a mean temperature of 26.7°C (80.1°F) with daytime highs around 35.6°C (96.2°F). Humidity dropped to a far more pleasant 64.3% on average, compared with the sticky 80%+ seen in the rainy months. Rainfall was minimal: the cool-dry months collected just 208.1mm (8.2in) combined, against an annual total of 1,882mm (74.1in).

January stood out as the standout month for visitors. It was the driest of the entire year with only 0.3mm (0.01in) of rain and a generous 330.5 hours of sunshine, while cool mornings dipped as low as 16.2°C (61.2°F). December was nearly as dry, recording just 5.0mm (0.20in) of precipitation.

By contrast, the worst stretch falls in the late monsoon. September 2025 was the wettest month with a soaking 387.4mm (15.3in) of rain and humidity peaking near 86%, which can disrupt sightseeing and outdoor plans in Bangkok.

For temple tours, river trips, and walking the markets, the November-to-February window offers Bangkok's most reliable conditions: dry skies, strong sunshine, and slightly cooler air. Travelers seeking the very best weather should target December and January, when rainfall is virtually nonexistent and clear, sunny days dominate.

Question 5

What were the temperature extremes in Bangkok in 2025?

Accepted Answer

Bangkok's temperature extremes in 2025 ranged from a scorching high of **39.7°C (103.5°F)** to a cool low of **15.7°C (60.3°F)**, giving the city an annual temperature spread of about 24°C (43°F).

The hottest day of 2025 fell on **23 April**, when the daytime maximum peaked at 39.7°C (103.5°F) during the height of Bangkok's hot season. At the other end, the coolest night came on **29 November**, when the temperature dipped to 15.7°C (60.3°F) as the cooler, drier northeast monsoon set in. Across the full year, Bangkok's average temperature held at a warm **27.9°C (82.2°F)**.

Heat dominated much of 2025 in Bangkok. The city recorded **67 days with highs of 35°C (95°F) or above**, including **22 days that reached 37°C (98.6°F) or hotter**. April was the warmest month overall, averaging 30.1°C (86.2°F), while November was the coolest at 25.7°C (78.3°F).

For travellers, these figures show that Bangkok stays hot year-round, but the intensity varies. If you want to avoid the most extreme heat, steer clear of late March through May, when 39°C-plus afternoons are possible. The cooler tail end of the year offers the most comfortable temperatures, though even then daytime conditions remain warm and humid by most standards.
